About Us
About Us
Our group is made up of approximately 30 active, multi-generational participants from the Tacoma, Seattle, Olympia, Port Orchard and Oak Harbor areas.
We fuse traditional Okinawa music with traditional Okinawa dance routines, chanting and taiko drumming; our performances often include other traditional Japanese instruments such as the Sanshin and Koto.
Okinawa History
Okinawa, comprising of 150 islands in the southern most prefecture of Japan. The Okinawa islands sit in the Pacific Ocean, and has a distinct culture of its own, much different than mainland Japan.
Our ancestors believed that the
Ocean is like a bridge to cross and meet people and make peace with
all nations. Our Okinawa Drums
send forth a wish of peace to each
and every person with our sincere appreciation in harmony with one another.
